Well tonights run was a sad run, today saw the passing of ma wee pall, 'Wee Jess' (Jessica Orange Ferguson). I was late in going for my run and it was difficuilt to get out the door in the reality that when i came back ma Wee Jess wouldna be there. I finally managed to get out the door for my run however.

To run forever and beyond
So as I head out the door I can't help but be sad, but I know that my wee running buddy will now be running free in the parks and the beaches when ever and where ever she likes. And tonight is no different I take my Wee Jess with me on this run and this will be one of many she will now come with me on. I had her with me every step of the way and I don't just mean in my heart and head; I dont mean physically either in case you all start thinking I am carrying a dead dog around, pppfffftt silly. I had here there running beside, in front and behind me as she used to do. People must have thought I was a loon (lun) as I ran down the street laughing but then they never saw what I saw, my Wee Jess running along in front doing what she loved to do :)

Down the street and round the corner every so often stopping and looking back to make sure this auld man was keeping up. I went into the park and onto the big loop, as I went over the bridge and round the bend I felt my lace flap a bit so I stopped at the top of the roller coaster dip to tie it and had a wee look round and a wee thought and a smile. I suppose the funniest part for me in the park was at the imfamous 'B' Hill, I was running past the horses in the field and it was strange, they used to come to the fence when i took Jess there and they would sniff each other as animals do and then Jess would dart off and the big horse would plod a way and there would be a wee bark and wee neigh. As Jess got older the running in the park became less and the horses would just neigh as I went past, but tonight one of them came up to the fence stuck his head out and kinda almost nodded and then walked away with a wee neigh, mmm.
But then that was me going off on a tangent, what i was going to say was at the 'B' Hill I felt Jess there at the bottom of it as I approached looking ears up as she always did, tail in the air in here 'ready to run playful stance' with the look of come on daddy come and get me. Being the Loon that I am I sprinted after this imaginery dog up the 'B' Hill forgetting for a moment that I wasnt the one with eternal life, although by the end of the sprint I nearly did have :).

I pushed on and followed my Spirited friend as I went, and then when I was coming down the other side of the 'B' Hill I got slightly tearful as Wee Jess used to hammer down the hill and skid at the corner as she tried to stop herself from crossing the wee wooden plank bridge as she never liked it, she always walked across these bridges crouched down and looking like she had bandy legs. By the time I reached the botttom of the hill, I was blinded by both sweat and a few tears and had to pause for a moment once again and just have a wee think.
Pushing up the road hill and through the swing gate nothing excited happened. The rest of the run went smoothly, although not to fast. All the way home I could see my wee Jess there in front moving me along. She will run with me always.
